![]() ![]() The anthology is called Tales of the Great Detective Agency. I have a short story coming out in an anthology by Obverse Books. The stories are really diverse and exceptionally well done. My third anthology for Elm Books, Undeath and the Detective, is a collection of supernatural mysteries. There are quite a few things coming up, actually. ![]() Writing, and helping other writers bring their work to market, has become its own inspiration. But my second one was snapped up by my first-choice publisher and shortlisted for a Lammy. Deliberately writing for other people, as painful as it can be when you’re just beginning, ultimately makes the difference between churning out self-indulgent tripe and writing things that other people will pay to read.įinishing my first novel gave me the confidence to revise, rewrite, and submit. Writing for other people is hard, but it forces a person to think about what she’s writing and how she’s writing it. I didn’t do it with any seriousness, though, until I started networking with other aspiring writers, exchanging work, and really thinking about what I was trying to do. I'll be having my fellow Undeath and the Detective as guest authors over the next few Tuesdays. ![]()
